Mental stimulation is often found through exercising their\nminds and through performing nose work, such as sniffing out hidden treats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My dogs really enjoy trying to find\ntreats and cheerios that I have hidden in the snuffle mat that I made for them.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What\nyou will need to make your own snuffle mat:<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>A rubber anti-fatigue mat with holes in\nit<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zimmvet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/matt.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-345\" width=\"223\" height=\"181\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Fleece fabric cut into strips\napproximately 7 to 8\u201d long and varying widths ranging from 1 to 2\u201d wide.&nbsp; You can use any colors and mix and match to customize\nit to your liking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you have your mat and the fleece\nfabric strips are cut all you have to do is string the strips through the holes\nand tie them \u2013 the fuller the mat the better it is to hide treats in J<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.zimmvet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/vals-dog-with-matt.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-346\" width=\"147\" height=\"233\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a photo of my dog, Bear sniffing\nout Cheerios that I hid in his snuffle mat<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By: Valerie Ferguson, ZimmVet Let\u2019s face it, Minnesota winters can get LONG.&nbsp; I am always looking for new ways to add mental stimulation to my pets\u2019 lives when it is too cold to spend a lot of time outdoors.
